How to acclimate your new aquatic pets

Acclimating fish and snails

Your fish will arrive double bagged, remove the outer bag and float the unopened inner bag in your fully cycled aquarium for approximately 15 minutes. This allows time for the temperature of the water in the bag to match your aquarium temperature.

Open the inner bag and pour out and discard any excess water until the fish is just covered when sitting normally in the bag.

After 15 minutes add more water from your aquarium so that the volume in the bag has been doubled.

Note: If the water in the bag gets t00 high, just pour some out.

After an additional 10 minutes add more water again from your aquarium so that the volume in the bag has been doubled.

After 5 minutes your fish can be released into your aquarium.

Acclimating Shrimp - Drip acclimation method

Your Shrimp will arrive double bagged, remove the outer bag and float the unopened inner bag in your fully cycled aquarium for approximately 15 minutes. This allows time for the temperature of the water in the bag to match your aquarium temperature.

Empty the contents of the inner bag into a large clean container or bucket (ensure there is no soap or chemical residues in the container). Use a length of airline or similar tubing to siphon water from your aquarium into the container with your shrimp. Tie a knot in one end of the tubing or use a valve to control the flow so that the siphoning water slowly drips 2-3 drops every second into your container containing the shrimp.

Continue this process for approximately 2-3 hours, after this period gently pour the contents of your container into your aquarium.

Note; Monitor the siphoning process from time to time to ensure container does not overflow.
